The partnership aims to produce animal-free milk proteins using Standing Ovation’s proprietary precision fermentation technology. Operations will be based at AFE’s advanced biomanufacturing facility in Nesle, France.


This collaboration represents a key milestone for Standing Ovation, which was founded in 2020 with the vision of creating sustainable dairy proteins through cutting-edge biotechnological processes. The startup has developed Advanced Casein, an innovative product designed to replicate the functional and sensory characteristics of traditional casein, the main protein in milk. Casein plays a vital role in dairy product formulations, serving as a cornerstone for cheese, yogurt, and ice cream production.


The partnership with AFE offers Standing Ovation access to decades of expertise in industrial fermentation and biomanufacturing, positioning the company to scale up its production capabilities significantly. For AFE, this venture aligns with its legacy of food innovation and underscores its commitment to addressing global sustainability challenges.

By using microorganisms to produce milk proteins, the company bypasses the need for animal agriculture, resulting in a product that boasts a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
