This new, undisclosed capital infusion will help accelerate MeliBio’s mission to transform the honey industry by reducing its dependence on honeybees, contributing to biodiversity preservation.


This investment builds on MeliBio’s history of financial backing. In 2022, the company raised $5.7 million in a seed round led by Astanor Ventures, positioning it to expand operations domestically and internationally. Combined with previous funding, this brings their total to $10 million. Mandich emphasized that the support from Future Food Fund aligns with MeliBio’s mission to protect 20,000 wild bee species critical to maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance.


The funding and strategic partnership with Future Food Fund also underscore a growing global awareness of the food system’s role in combating climate change and biodiversity loss. With this support, MeliBio aims to scale its operations, develop new product lines, and expand internationally. A significant partnership with Narayan Foods will bring MeliBio’s bee-free honey to over 75,000 stores across Europe, marking a key step toward making sustainable honey alternatives accessible to consumers worldwide.

Gaining Market Traction


MeliBio’s product, “Mellody,” has gained quick traction among foodservice partners. Restaurants such as Moto Pizza in Seattle and Eleven Madison Park in New York City have incorporated the bee-free honey into their menus, further validating its versatility and taste. Mandich, who previously worked in the traditional honey industry, applied his deep knowledge of the market’s challenges to the creation of Mellody, ensuring that it meets industry standards for high-quality, scalable ingredients.


Beyond restaurants, MeliBio has broadened its U.S. distribution through partnerships with major distributors like KeHE, Sysco-owned Greco and Sons, and ACE Natural, enabling Mellody to reach a diverse array of consumers across foodservice and retail sectors.
